What happens to my YEL insurance if I take family leave?

If you do not work during your family leave, your YEL insurance may be terminated. When you return to work, you must apply for a new YEL insurance policy. If you work during family leave, your YEL insurance will not be terminated. In this case, however, you should check the amount of your YEL income.

When determining parental allowance, Kela will use your confirmed YEL insurance income as a basis.
