What insurance should I take out?
This article concerns the OP Light Entrepreneur Without Business ID service.
Accident insurance that provides protection against personal injury and liability insurance that provides protection for property are automatically valid when you register for the service and perform work that you invoice through the OP Light Entrepreneur Without Business ID service. Leisure-time accidents and property damage are not covered by the insurance.
Certain jobs and industries require additional insurance. In these cases, it is a good idea to find out the insurance requirements yourself or enquire about them directly from the client. Working in industries that require permits often requires a business ID, which you can obtain through the OP Light Entrepreneur (With Business ID) service.

YEL insurance is also mandatory for users of the Without Business ID service
Statutory pension insurance for entrepreneurs (YEL) is mandatory for all light entrepreneurs, regardless of whether you operate as a light entrepreneur with a business ID or without a business ID, if the conditions of the insurance are met. In 2026, the YEL annual income limit is 9,423.09 euros. When your income exceeds this limit, you should apply for YEL insurance without delay.
You can easily obtain YEL insurance through our service under My details ➝ YEL insurance. The insurance is granted by our partner Ilmarinen.
